English

In the first Autumn term we will be listening to and discussing stories by Julia Donaldson- Room on the Broom, What the Ladybird Heard Next and The Highway Rat.

We will be exploring different parts of these books and rpedicting what might happen next in our story.

This term we will support children to become independent writers by encouraging them to think of and say their own sentences related to the text. We will explore the structure of a good sentence such as leaving spaces between words and placing full stops at the end of sentences. Furthermore we will continue to focus on using conjunctions (and, so, but, because) within their writing, to help us explain and expand our writing.

Please see attached Year 2 common exception words which children are expected to be able to read and write by the end of the year.
